Good morning all
On Sunday we played West Bergholt.
This week's report is from Tom AI Jepson
Leavenheath made it three wins on the spin—and this one had a bit of everything: tight bowling, a mini collapse, and just enough chaos to keep things entertaining.
West Bergholt’s innings never really got going, and that was largely thanks to a relentless Leavenheath attack. Dan Common was in the mood early, ripping through the top order with a superb 4-wicket haul that left the opposition wobbling before they’d even unpacked their kit bags. Chris Chown chipped in with a couple, Tom Jepson was as economical as a Yorkshireman at a buffet (2 wickets for just 1 run!), and Ed Sutcliffe quietly tied things up at the other end.
But the real star of the show? Step forward Katie Logan.
Eight overs, one maiden, just 16 runs and a wicket—an economy of 2.00 that basically put a padlock on one end. It was the kind of spell that makes batters question their life choices. Dot balls piled up, frustration grew, and any hope of acceleration quietly disappeared. If bowling were an art form, Katie was painting a masterpiece.
West Bergholt eventually limped to 97 all out from 31 overs—a total that always felt a bit light.
The chase wasn’t entirely drama-free (because where’s the fun in that?), with a few early wickets giving West Bergholt a flicker of hope, messers Wells, Waugh, Pearson and Hobson all departed within 11 overs.
However, Leavenheath were always in control and paced things nicely. Then, enter Stuart Logan, having decided enough was enough, launching a quickfire 22* off just 10 balls to slam the door shut in style. No late drama, no panic—just a clean, confident finish.
A quick word too for Simon—because it would be rude not to. Now that he’s discovered the revolutionary concept of looking where he bowls, there are whispers he could become genuinely dangerous. The opposition have been warned.
All in all, a comfortable win, a happy camp, and a team building some very nice momentum. Three in a row…and there’s more to come!!
This Sunday is the open day at Leavenheath - as advertised on the news feed. Hope to see you all there.
Thanks
Dave
