Good evening all
Due to some technical issues with the website, there was delays in getting reports out.
The match results are on the fixture tab on website and can see how each player performed.
I will not bombard you with match reports and to be honest, I am not sure I can remember most of the games - especially on Saturday. I think the Cider was off......
So since the last match report against West Bergholt, we have played three games.
On Sunday 1st June, we welcomed a new team - Stansfield - to the Pleasuredome.
We batted first and set a target of 271 for 5.
Batting highlights - Gordon not out on 85 and Skinner out for 65.
We took the full 35 overs to get them all out but well short of the target and finished on 134 all out.
Bowling highlights - Katie Logan with her first wicket for the club - LBW.
Main man and Man of Match was Chris Chown with 6 for 15 from 7 overs!
The next game was Sunday 8th June away to Gestingthorpe.
After a few pre match drinks in The Pheasant (nice pub!) we batted first and set a total of 183.
A few contributions but Jeppo was high scorer with 51 before being caught out.
We then went to bowl them out before letting them get on top and started well with Cal getting the two openers for ducks!
There main man came in at 3 and gave a chance but was dropped and went to get 70 before Wellsy trapped him LBW.
Damage was done and although we got a few more wickets, they got the target with 4 overs to spare.
Cal 2 for 26 from 5, Common 0 for 28 from 5, Logan 0 for 27 from 4, Wells 2 for 23 from 6, Jeppo 1 for 30 from 5.3.
Lock 0 for 18 from 2 overs and Nev 0 for 17 from 2 overs.
On Saturday 14th June, we visited Bures for the Chris Ayres Memorial Match, looking to retain the trophy for the 3rd year on the bounce.
I will be honest, the whole day was a blur but did see Leavenheath field first.....just!
Waugh and Jepson opened and both took an opener each with catches from Skinner and Logan.
Logan came on and took a caught and bowled
Young Henry Pilgrim on loan from Gestingthorpe took 2 wickets but the main man with the ball was Dan Common taking 4 wickets - supported by catches from Gordon x2 and Katie Logan
Bowling figures -
Cal 1 for 23 from 5, Jepson 1 for 28 from 5, S Logan 1 for 21 from 5, Chown 0 for 16 from 5, Henry 2 for 24 from 5 and Dan 4 for 33 from 5.
154 was the target.
After tea, I am reliant on the book for the stats -
Logan and Skinner opened. After promising start they both fell to the same bowler - Logan 33 and Skinner 36.
It was a solid performance where Nev in at 3 and Bev Gordon in at 4 saw the game across the line with plenty of time to spare.
Nev not out on 45 and Bev not out on 34
The trophy retained for the third year on the bounce.
The rest of the evening was celebrated well, from what I hear!
So weekend games are up to speed and now we prepare for Sundays visit to Wickham St Paul/ Halstead.
We are 6 wins out of the 8 played - win number 7 on its way - match report to be provided by team member and updated next week.
Thanks
Dave
