MATCH REPORT vs WEST BERGHOLT - AWAY - SUNDAY 25TH MAY

26 May 2025

Good afternoon all

Yesterday we visited West Bergholt for the weekly red ball game.

Match report below is from the Skipper, Tris Skinner -

' On Sunday we travelled to West Bergholt for a 35 over match.

We started at the Queens Head for a pre-match pint.

Once at the ground, I lost the toss again and we were put into bat on what looked like a bowlers wicket, which was very green but at least flat!

Logan and I started off in quick fashion and had got to 60+, when we lost Logan for 16, caught on the boundary.

Bev joined me and was find the middle nicely.

I was feeling good until they brought on a slow bowler and he totally bamboozled me!

Bev was turning the score over at the other end though, and I eventually went for 87, caught off a top edge.

Bev went on to score a lovely 130 not out and was supported by Common, who finished 19 not out.

No teas, so after a quick trip to the local Coop, we started the fielding.

We had a couple of lads helping us out, due to being short - Ross Waldron from Cavendish and Henry Pilgrim from Getingthorpe - who got 3 three wickets. Thanks for the support!

They never looked liked they were going to get our total and after bowling the full 35 overs, they finished 157 for 8

Sutcliffe with 1 wicket

Logan with 2 wickets - which included (self proclaimed) the best catch ever seen in the slips by me (Tris)

(I must note at some point during the fielding, Ted has to have a 'procedure' and had to take some meds.....which played havoc with his internals (on purpose), which meant after he had bowled, he exited sharpish......)

Chowny with a caught and bowled and Simon Hobson getting his first ever wicket with a wicket maiden in the final over.

Back to the Queens Head for a few beers and then everyone went separate ways for Kebabs, Chinese and McDonalds.

We are now 4 out of 5 wins for Sundays and in good form. Roll on Melford away on Wednesday night for the T20 League.'

Another good win, well done lads.

Melford on Wednesday kicks off at 6pm - if not playing and want to be involved for weekdays or weekends, get in touch!

Otherwise come down and support us
