We kicked off the league with High St Rangers (Halstead based team) and they visited the Pleasuredome
They set 140 from 20 overs.
Wickets - 4 from Logan, 1 for Common, 2 for Superted, 1 for Jepson and 2 for Skinner
We started the chase poorly and top 6 out for a combined 25 runs. In came our resident Aussie and score 56 not out.
It came down to the last over, supported by Si Hobson, chipping in with 9 runs but we ran out of time and asked too much in the last over and finished on 136
On Wednesday 21st May, we welcomed Long Melford at home.
We went to bat first and set a target of 172 for 5 - top scores from Skinner with 49 and KP for 47
We bowled well and kept them down and after 20 overs were 150 for - first win for LCC!
Bev with stand out figures with 4 for 34 from 4
Also Spurs won the Europa League - so a great night!
On Wednesday 28th May, we visited Long Melford and knew they would be up for getting a result back.
We batted first and set 153 for 5 from the 20 overs
KP with stand out knock of 60 not out and we also had a minus 6 runs, hitting into a garden we cannot get the ball back - Dan Common hit it in there after telling us not too!! good shot though!.
Due to a couple of missed opportunities with our hands, we let their batsman get settled and they went on to get the total with just 1.4 overs to spare.
Sutcliffe and Dan getting 2 wickets each and Logan and Wells taking 1 each - leaving them 6 down
The next week we welcomed Cavendish to the Pleasuredome
They batted first and set 150 for 5 from their 20 overs.
2 wickets from Jeppo, 1 each from Logan, Bev and Kieron Lock
We started well and looked on track but they changed their wicket keeper who came on to bowl and not that we are bitter but we could not get him away!
He kept us pegged back and too much to do in the final few overs - finishing on 144 for 3
Logan out in last over for 70 from 63 balls, Skinner 9 from 12 balls, KP 26 from 17 balls and Jeppo not out 13 from 18 balls.
And last week we welcomed Gestingthorpe at home - after beating us on the Sunday before, we were keen to get one on them.
We batted first on a lovely sunny evening.
We set 183 for 5 from our 20 overs
Bev in at number 2 with 76, Skinner in at 3 got 22, Nev with 25, Dan with 27 are the key batting scores
In the field, it was our best performance so far.
We bowled them all out for 77 runs in 19 overs
Logan with 4 wickets including a maiden
Chown with 2 wickets and 2 maidens
Common with 3 wickets and Waugh with 1 wicket.
There was even a couple of drops but still 6 held catches.
As per the league, there is different bonus points for number of runs and wickets, in addition to winning.
We are currently sat in third position with still plenty of games left.
This Friday we are at High Street Rangers in Halstead - hence we have had to postpone the quiz night.
Pop down if fancy a couple of drinks and food after - bring some cash though!
Thanks
Dave
