Match report - Hadleigh away - 24th July 2022

04 Aug 2022

Good afternoon all

On Sunday 24th July 2022, we visited Hadleigh on a hot sunny day.

Dan carried on his role as skipper and won the toss and we chose to bat first.

In the absence of Stuart Logan, Dan elected Jeppo to be number 2 alongside Tris.

The paid started well before Jeppo was caught behind on 10.

Johnny Weavers came in for a fleeting visit and was out for 2 after being bowled.

Wellsy was in at 4, he had a good partnership before Tris had to retire on 50 - although not very happy

but was pre-agreed with the skippers.

Will Stacey joined the crease but was caught out on 1.

Minndo came in to partner Wellsy. Wellsy was in for a while before being caught out for 20 runs.

Minndo was joined by Dan and they shared a good partnership. Dan getting 31 runs before being

caught behind.

Minndo was clocking up the runs and I joined him at the crease when he was in the 40s.

It felt like a long wait but Minndo notched up the final singles to get his first 50 of the season and then

retired.

Young Alfie Weavers joined me at the crease. Looking to outscore his Dad. He matched his score

quite quickly before hitting his first 4 for the club.

Alfie finished on 8 not out and I finished 25 not out

Score - 240 from 25 overs

They kindly put on a BBQ for us and after a burger and a quick drink, we went to field.

Dan opted with Superted and Cal to open.

Superted was the star of the show. Rolling through the top order and finished with 5 wickets, the first

for anyone this season. 7 overs, 5 for 18.

Cal was bowling well from the other end but only walked away with 1 wicket - 6 overs 1 for 14

Will Stacey had his first proper spell. A mixture of all sorts but was effective and got his first wicket for

the club and finished 7 overs 2 for 20

Alfie Weavers having a go. No wickets from his 3 overs but bowled a maiden.

Dan looking for the wickets now and brought on Jeppo and me on for an over each. Both with no luck.

Minndo and Dan then came on. Only needing 1 wicket, Minndo didnt get it, Dan did from his 3rd ball.

We got them all out for 67 runs.

Some good fielding with Weavers getting a good stumping and caught behind. Jeppo with a catch

and a run out. But there was a hattrick of catches from the skipper of the day, Dan.

All round good performance, washed down with a pint and another burger.

Dan remains skipper for another week.
