MATCH REPORT vs STANSFIELD AWAY - 12TH JULY

22 Jul 2026

Good afternoon all

Just playing catch up after being away and below is the last match report from game versus Stansfield away on 12th July.

West Bergholt on 18th July was cancelled due to lack of avaialbility.

This weekend's game has had to be cancelled due to Easton's booking error and no team available to play us.

Next weekend game is Gestingthorpe on Sunday 2nd August

However, this is the weekend team only and there is action at the Pleasuredome this evening in the midweek T20 League so pop along and support!

Match reporter for Stansfield game is Gary Chenery -

To miss the fine facilities of the Pleasure dome would be an understatement.

This week we travelled to Stansfield, whilst discussing tactics not just for the game, but for tour next season a couple of things became apparent.

1. It wasn’t the strongest batting line up ever produced by LCC

2. The heat was unbelievable.

After the Toss we elected to bat, up stepped Nev and Si on what can only be described as the deadest wicket known to man, Nev somehow made some shots off the bat when the ball finally decided to pitch and was dropped 4 times before his wicket finally gave way.

The runs were there for the taking, their bowling line up was questionable by the time Wells and Jepson got in.

However cheap wickets cost us, Wells left a ball that hit his stumps after a wicked turn, Gaz batted for the 1st time in 8 years and faced 3 balls, single, single, then caught and bowled, Chown was the victim of a run out called by his partner who may or may not have had 4

beers before start of play, and Superted was dismissed from a cheeky nick and caught behind by their 12 year old WK.

182 was the total after 25 overs,  Captain Jepson contributing the most with some boundaries before being dismissed for a ball that literally died on impact as it hit the wicket, extras helped us massively but the team were looking forward to teas, A Great British bake off participant made some of the players long for more and were extremely satisfied with the cake options.

Time to field in the scorching weather, strong starts by Cal and Chowny kept their run rate down, Cal taking a solid wicket after some advice from Wellsy as he was swinging the ball too much on an already unpredictable wicket.

As the bowlers changed the batsman did as well as wickets fell with the help of Common, Jepson and Superted, until solid partnerships from Stansfield’s younger crop came into bat and gave it their all, nothing silly but runs steadily made with some decent shots made in the process.

It became apparent that their run rate wasn’t going to be good enough to keep up with the mighty LCC even after all their hard work, and after 35 overs it was all said and done.

Special shout outs go to Superted who tried to field a ball, nearly kicked it out for a 6 and then rolled his ankle chasing after it, and also Cal for what can only be described as the most cinematic one handed catch ever followed by a run out that not only shocked him but the whole team.

I’m not sure when the next game is as England seem to be messing with the timetable a fair bit, so I’ll guess we will all meet up at some point when it’s all settled down and carry on from where we left it👍👍👍

Enjoy weekend off and keep an eye on socials for midweek games!

Thanks

Dave
