MATCH REPORT vs CHIPPENHAM - SUNDAY 22ND SEPTEMBER

23 Sep 2024

Good morning all

Yesterday we welcomed Chippenham to the Heath, to play in the last game of the season.

I was not present yesterday but Wellsy has kindly provided a match report for me to share -

LCC won the toss with tris and Nev opening the batting. Nev first to go for 18 sharing a 50 run

partnership. Skinner somehow made 39. Bev with his 6th 50 of the season contributing with 52. Common

who thought he was playing golf, swung at everything and was bowled on 42. Hobson with his £400 bat

achieved his highest score for the club with 28 not out. Wells decided to have a walk down the pitch and

was stumped for 0. Waugh utilising his big arms hit some lusty blows for 17 before being caught.

Stacey 4 and matchwinner Chowny a solid 4 not out. We set Chippenham 217 to win.

Wells and Superted opened the bowling. Ted with his best bowling for a long time somehow ended up

wicket less thanks to a few dropped catches and our slip (tris) being half asleep. Wells plugged away

but ended his spell with no wickets. Chippenham then start to get on top but thanks to an incredible

catch by Wellsy we had the breakthrough, Waugh with the first wicket. Chown up the other end with his

slow seam was causing havoc. He ended his spell taking 2 wickets. Waugh with 2 as well, great first

change bowling. Common into the attack and got into the wickets early on taking 2. This left our captain

to finish things off with the last over, Chippenham needed 25 to win. Skinner took a wicket after 3 balls

and the game was done, we won by 25 runs. Great match to end our season and looking forward to

our return fixture next season.

And just like that, the season is over!

We have LCC Annual Dinner at Mill Hotel in Sudbury coming up, an end of season Curry and at some

point in winter, the indoor nets will start up. We will be extending this to anyone who is interested in

playing and help bolster the squad for next season. Details to be shared on website and social media

in future.

Thanks again to everyone involved in keeping the club running.
