MATCH REPORT vs BURES 15.06.24

02 Jul 2024

Good afternoon

Sorry for the delayed match report updates.

On Saturday 15th June 2024, we played Bures at Bures for the Chris Ayers Memorial Shield.

We ventured to Bures to meet up in the pub for pre-match beers. This was extended due to the

downpours but the sun did come out and the game was on.

I will be honest, I stuck around in the pub for another pint with Wellsy, as neither of us were playing.

When we did venture over, we were 39 for 4 and wondered what was going on.

I continued to drink, so all a little bit hazy so for this match, I will give you the stats.

Leavenheath batted first -

Tris out LBW for 14 (lengthy discussions with Pacey after the game!)

Logan caught out for 2

Bev, settled the ship and finished on 62 before being bowled

Weavers, caught out for 0

Dan Common - caught out for 0

Jepson - LBW for 8 - not sure if this was dubious or not

Cal - bowled for 1

Chown - bowled out for 15

Lee - stumped for 0

Pacey - 0 not out

Superted - 1 not out

We got 118 from our 30 overs.

I know the skipper was not sure if this was enough but after teas, they went out to defend the total

I did watch this and saw quite a few catches

Jeppo - 1 for 11 from 4 overs - catch from Dan Common

Superted - 4 for 14, 1 maiden from 6 overs - 3 wickets in one over - 2 catches from Skinner and Jeppo,

1 LBW and 1bowled

Logan - 4 for 10 from 6 overs - 1 wicket maiden - 2 bowled and 2 catches from Chown and Weavers

Cal - 3 overs 0 for 13 runs

Chown - 1 over for 12 runs

Dan Common - last wicket 1 for 6 from 0.5 over.

All out for 65 within 22nd over

It was a great day as always and Leavenheath CC retained the shield to Bures disappointment but

another well supported day for a much loved Bures player.

We celebrated further in Bures. I will probably record the next game I decide to drink!
