MATCH REPORT vs HADLEIGH AWAY plus FANTASY UPDATE

11 Jul 2023

Good morning all

Last week we visited Benidorm - We won one game and lost the other - I do not have more to share

than that as I was drunk 99% of the time. The games did not go towards averages or the Fantasy score.

Sunday just gone, we visited Hadleigh and played a 35 over match on a warm, muggy day.

Tris went out for the toss and lost and we were elected to field first.

Wellsy and Jack opened the bowling. Wellsy got a wicket and bowled on of the openers in his 2nd over.

This brought in their young lad who could hit the ball and took a shine to Wellsy's bowling.

Wellsy finished his 7 over spell 1 for 45.

At the other end Jack should of had a wicket but Wellsy lost sight and dropped the ball.

Jack also bowled his 7 over spell straight and finished 0 wickets, 1 maiden for 24 runs.

It was then time Jepson and Superted. The change of bowling did the trick and got a wicket first over

caught ( yes I held one and didn't flap ) at gully.

Jeppo at the other end got a wicket in his third over with LBW and then a further wicket, getting their

top scorer out for 47 and was caught by our overseas player, Neville (worrying about the Ashes score,

he still held it) Jeppo bowled his 7 over spell at his end and finished 2 for 24 with 1 maiden.

At the other end, Superted struggled and in his 4th over he had to come off and I finished the last 2 balls

Finished 1 for 21 off 3.4 overs.

Not sure what all the fuss was about, I got a wicket the first ball, caught behind by Weavers.

My brief 2 ball spell was over and Dan Common came on my end, with Neville on the other end.

They both took a wicket in their 2nd overs - Dan with an LBW - he looked disappointed as he had been

cheering every Hadleigh shot for the last 10 overs.

Neville got a wicket from a superb diving catch from the Skipper, Tris.

Neville went on to get another wicket with LBW and finished his 2 for 14 from his 3 overs.

Dan was pulled off and I came on to finish the spell at the other end. No more wickets and from my 2.2

overs, I finished 1 for 10.

In between the changes we had a runout - ball in from Jack and comfortably taken another wicket.

The last over was bowled by young Alfie Weavers. He almost had a wicket 2nd ball but called a no ball

The innings was over and the target was set - 160 to win.

No teas, as we had a BBQ at the end, so after a drinks break and watch the end of the 3rd Ashes Test,

taking it back to the Aussies. We were then ready to bat.

Tris and Logan opened the batting. Shots were flying everywhere and good to see some big sixes,

even if they were youngsters bowling! Logan was the first to retire on 55 being replaced by

Alfie Weavers. He kept his eye and supported Tris who then retired on 53 runs. Jack was then in to

replace him and didn't take long to get his eye with a 6 and then a ramp shot for 4. Before he went in

he was worried his average would take a knock as he wouldn't score enough..........he wasn't expected

to be caught out though.....and departed for 18.

Alfie was joined by Dan Common - I say joined. I'm not he stopped walking and was stumped first ball

with a golden duck and back he came.

Alfie was then joined with Jeppo. Alfie departed soon after and was caught for 7 runs.

It was down to Jeppo and Neville to see us home - mainly because of injuries or people had got

changed. But, they did the job with Jeppo hitting a 6 for the winning runs.

Score chased down in the 25th over. Another victory and celebrated with a BBQ.

Next week we are back at Home to avenge the loss to Gestingthorpe from earlier in the season.

Fantasy -

I have attached the updated spreadsheet - with assistance from Alex Wells.

It has the updated teams and scores from the weekend. Dan Common took a hit in the players score

and I know a lot of people included him in their team - me included!

Mist Rolling 23 - still way out in front but plenty of double point games to go.

See you all Sunday.

Thanks

Dave
