MATCH REPORT vs BURES AWAY - plus Fantasy update

22 Jun 2023

Good afternoon all

Sorry for the delayed report - I was away at Edgbaston watching the Ashes last 2 days and playing

catch up.

Fantasy update -

Mist Rolling 23 are still top of the league and quite a way out in front.

Tris is top of the players league.

One more game this Sunday before the mid-season transfer window to open - I will send details out

when it opens and closes.

Match report -

On Saturday we visited Bures for the first annual Chris Ayer's Memorial Shield.

A good turn out from a lot of ex-Bures players and plenty of familiar faces.

After the traditional 2 pints before the game, we arrived and Tris elected to field first in a 30 over match.

After a few words from Cracey before starting the match Jack Cousins and Wellsy were elected to

open the bowling for Leavenheath.

Jack managed two wickets in his first spell - wicket caught behind by Weavers and the other bowled.

Wellsy, rejuvenated after his holiday and yoga spells, bowled his 6 overs. Finished 1 for 31.

Daley - new player playing first game came on for 2 overs after Jack. few too many short balls for the

Skippers liking and was taken off after 2 overs.

Dan Common on for Daley and Jeppo on for Wellsy the other end.

Jeppo finished without his wicket on the day and finished 5 overs for 36.

Dan at the other end got 2 wickets in his first over, a 3rd in his second over. A couple of expensive

overs in a racing out field before getting his 4th wicket in the last of his 6 over spell.

Dan had a caught and bowled, and others were caught from Tris. Finished 6 overs, 4 for 46

Tris replaced Jeppo and bowled a 5 over spell and got the wicket of the Bures top scorer by bowling him

for 53. Finished 1 for 22 from 5 overs.

Chowny and Jack finished the overs - Chown for 1 over with no wickets.

Jack with no further wickets finishing his 6 overs 2 for 34.

Target was set for 209 to win.

After tea, Tris set up the top order - confident only writing in the first 5 names in the order.

Tris and Weavers opened the batting. Tris getting off after a 'walked' first run and then finding boundaries.

Weavers was out early this week and departed for 2.

Jack joined Tris and we then sat back and watched for a while.

Tris reached his 50 first and went on to get 62 ( and it was counted with Harris! so not 63!) before

being bowled.

Jack was joined by Daley. Jack attempting a few ramp shots and then nearly caught out a couple of

times but got his 50 and then went on to score 77 before being caught and bowled.

Daley departed for 15 after Cracey was asked to bowl and got him early in his spell.

It was then the Dan Common show with Neville at the other end.

Dan knocking it about a bit and then finishing with a flourish with a 4 and winning the game with a 6.

Dan finishing 23 not out and Neville 3 not out.

This doesn't tell the full picture of the game and ruin chase went into the 29th over!

Good game for spectators and everyone involved. Another LCC win but also we are the first name

on the Chris Ayers Shield. Cracey with a few words before the Shield was presented to Tris by Simon

Ayers.

Lots of photos on the day by the sneaky groundsman, Rob Sherriff. I am sure they will be all uploaded

soon but can be seen on some of the social media pages.

This week we visit Wickham St Paul on Sunday and look to get a first win against them in 2 years.

See you then

Dave
