MATCH REPORT & FANTASY UPDATE - Vs Gestingthorpe Away

14 Jun 2023

Good morning all

Please see attached the Fantasy update following last Sunday's away game against Gestingthorpre.

Mist Rolling 23 is way out in front at the moment but plenty of games to go and a transfer window

soon for those vital changes.

Below is the match report against Gestingthorpe

Most of the team arrived at the Pheasant for a couple of pre-match beers before arriving to play a

40 over match at Gestingthorpe. We were elected to field first - the dread on our faces as it was a

rather warm afternoon in the sun.

Tris elected to open with Jepson and Superted. Superted only lasted 3 and a bit overs before his calf

injury came back and departed the field. Young Alfie Weavers came on to help for the rest of the match.

Superted departed with a wicker - caught behind by Weavers. 3.4 overs 1 for 32.

Jeppo at the other end had two spells of bowling but first over was a wicket maiden - 7 overs 1 for 43

After the first 2 openers for Gestingthorpe were out, we had to wait a while before getting another wicket

Dan Common had a 4 over spell - 4 overs 0 for 19

Logan at the other end had an 8 over spell - in 4th over got LBW and Kenny Moulton Day departed for

59 and Logan finished with a wicket maiden. Logey went on to get 2 further wickets in his spell, 1

bowled and 1 caught by Tris - 8 overs 1 maiden, 3 for 37.

El Nevster (Neville) came on for a spell but had to finish over early due to injury. He got 1 wicket with

stumping from Weavers behind. 3.4 overs 1 for 27

It required the over to be finished and El Cabre aka Nanny Goat aka Tris and took a wicket with his first

ball. He kept himself on and finished with 4 wickets 1 maiden 4 for 4. Catches from Harry Armour,

Minndo - who nearly threw up catching it and final wicket caught by Little.

All out after 28 overs and target was set for 167.

After tea, Tris and Logan took to the field and got us underway with the run chase.

Logey was the first to depart after being caught for 17.

Weavers and Tris and a bit of spell before Weavers departed LBW on 23.

I joined Tris at the crease and Tris was then caught out on 45. I was joined by Harry Armour for a

very brief cameo and was bowled first ball.

Dan Common joined me but I had ridden my luck after being dropped twice and was then bowled for

brief 4 runs.

Neville Joined Dan but also departed for a duck (though not a first ball).

Skipper was getting agitated and nervous on sidelines following a mini collapse.

Dan was Joined by Jeppo and had a both were knocking the ball about before Jeppo was bowled for 20.

Minndo joined Dan, still feeling rough. Quick fire 8 runs.

Dan was joined by Chown and Dan was then caught going for a big hit and departed for 15.

Chown and Alfie Weavers were the final pair and Alfie saw out 4 balls but was bowled without scoring

and Chown remained 6 not out.

We finished 3 short to win on 164 - although there was a dubious call for a 4 but was only given 2.

No super over this week and we gather ourselves ready for the next match at Bures on Saturday.

It would be good to get as many down to Bures as we can as it is the Chris Ayers memorial match,

following his passing last year.

See you all Saturday.

Thanks
Dave
