LCC FANTASY 2021 - Week 21 update

06 Sep 2021

Good Morning all

On Saturday we played our penultimate game against Long Melford, at Home, looking to avenge our loss at the
beginning of the season.
I'm glad to report that we did just that!
Tris Skinner taking the reigns as skipper and holding it into the last game of the season.

The scores and tables are attached. Harris and Jeppo just holding off Cal and Chown at present.
The all important double points games could prove the deciding factor for the winner after next week.
Bev with a good scoring week has extended his lead at the top of the players table.

Summary of the game.

The day started with the team all meeting for a pint at the Hare & Hounds with a pre game match of Killer on the pool table.
Tris ventured to the middle and came back and we were batting first.
Tris and Logan opened the batting. A lot of 4s and few 6s between them saw them both pass 50
Tris departed first with 63. Minndo stayed fopr a while but could not get Melfords leading wicket take of all time away and ended up departing for 1.
Logan departed a short while after for 68. It was then down to Bev and Weavers to keep pushing the score.
Weavers caught out on 28. Bev and Wellsy saw it to the end and Bev bowled out on last ball of the game for 50.
Wellsy finishing 2 not out.
218 for 5 off 35 overs

After a short teabreak, it was our turn to bowl.
Tris elected to bring back Wellsy as opener with Jeppo.
It proved a good decision with Wellsy getting a wicket first over. He also got another finishing with 2 wickets from his spell.
Jeppo from the other end, having a battle with the Melford's top scorer, got 2 wickets too.
Common and Cal came on first change and were being knocked about by Byford at Melford and finished without a wicket.
Chown and Little for next changes. 'Matchwinner' Chown bringing his best and getting 2 wickets, but the all important wicket of Byford who departed for 95.
Brother Chowns (Chowny and Jeppo) catching one for each other!
From my end, some questionable bowling going on and getting frustrated (and kicking off at the Skip for the day - sorry Tris!), allowed them an opportunity to get back in the game.
On review of the scorebook, It was one bad over and not the worst of the game! Although it all looked rather s@#t!
It required a change and Bev replaced Chowny after his spell. 1 over and a wicket from Bev.
The other end, it required someone to slow the run rate and Tris looked no further that Minndo, desperately asking to be involved.
He done the job and saw us home and back to winning ways, winning by 12 runs.

Highlights of the day -
Tris, Logan and Bev all getting 50's
Wellsy, Jeppo and Chowny with 2 wickets each
Jeppo taking a great catch to get their top scorer out from 'Brother' Chown
Hare and Hounds have their pool table back and do good pizzas on Saturday evenings!

This week is the last game of the season, at home to Ipswich Knights. This is a changed fixture and starts at 11am.

Have a good week and see you Sunday
