LCC FANTASY - Week 19 update

24 Aug 2021

Good Morning all

On Saturday we visited Bures, looking to avenge our narrow loss earlier in the season.
Unfortunately, we came up short against a big hitting Bures team.
Weavers took the reigns as Skipper and a proud day for him with his son Alfie in the squad
playing his first full match.

The scores and tables are attached. Cal and Chown top the table but are being chased down
by Harris and Jeppo - only 16 points in it now!
Bev still tops the players table, but the big mover is me, jumping into 2nd spot! Yes you
read that right.

Summary of the game.

The day started with a traditional pre-match pint or 2 in The Eight Bells.
We went to leave thinking we were late and Cracey from Bures was shouting from the
door to get us to come back in!
The clouds came in as Bures went in to bat first.
Spells of bowling from Jeppo, Cal, Wellsy and Skinner saw plenty of boundaries but no
wickets.
The rain starting to come down but we carried on. Change of bowlers saw Bev
and myself bowl.
Inspired change as I took 1 wicket in the first over and over the spell took 4 wickets
which slowed the Bures scoring rate down marginally.
(Anyone who saw Dedham game knows this could have been a very high scoring game
with my bowling!)
Bev came on and after being hit for 4 fours on the bounce for the first time in his
career, he got a wicket with a Stumping from Weavers (sr).
We pushed through to the end of a shortened game of 30 overs and Bures finished 221/5

After a short teabreak, Tris and Weavers went to the middle to start the chase.
It was a slow start to scoring but not to the bowling
Tris getting peppered by their quicker bowler and is black and blue this week.
Good knock from Tris with 67 runs and weavers departed in 13th over with 17.
Bev came in and got 18 runs and departed in the 20th over.
We had 10 overs to chase 102 runs.
Wellsy came in and stayed until later in the innings and got 20 runs.
Minndo came in and then went out again.
I scored 4 runs (i even ran a 3) but Cracey got me out again for 7th year in a row.
Wellsy said it was.....ill put it politely.....not a very good shot......and I wasn't the
only one either.
Jeppo came in with his trademark quick fire attack and scored a quick 15 runs.
The youngsters came in to support Wellsy - young Noah came in and scored 2 before
departing.
It was then the debut for Alfie Weavers. Hitting every ball and got his first runs for the
club before putting one in the air and being caught.
Proud moment for his father to see his son play and not be the lowest scorer on
the day - not that someone didn't hear enough about it!
Cal finished not facing a ball.

We were all out for 149 runs - with only 10 players.

This week we visit Sudbury. Fingers crossed the weather holds out for a good day
of cricket and few drinks!
Team and new skipper will be sent out over the course of this week.

See you Sunday
