Yesterday we visited Wickham St Paul.

We travelled to our old friends at Wickham St Paul with a pre match warm up at the Victory Inn, located 200 meters from the ground, we eventually strolled over to the wicket where Jepson elected to field.
Opening the bowling with SAS, I felt I was in the 2010s all over again. Always a beautiful sight. The pair shared a wicket each, firstly Stewart wells, providing variable bounce with the Batman chipping to Waugh, safely caught. Stuart Logan followed with consistent bowling, earning a wicket, caught behind by Chenery
What proved to be a bowling change for the ages, Dan Common entered the attack, from the end that provided no turn, took his first Sunday 5 wicket haul, a C&B and another catch by Waugh were the highlights of a top spell. Waugh entered the attack making his triumphant return after 1 week came on at the variable bounce end, collecting one wicket, caught by Jepson.
Skipper brought himself on to finish WSP off, with the tease of Dave Little warming up to bowl the batsman decided he didn’t want to face him so swiped Jepson to Logan taking another catch for LCC. 0 dropped catches saw WSP bowled out for 88
Tea was provided with some delicious Sausage and Chorizo, finished off with Strawberries and clotted cream, Stuart Logan was in heaven
Opening the LCC innings with Little and Chown, we have Littles heavy hitting with Chown's defence, a solid combination. Little departed after a quick 24
Two more wickets swiftly followed, Archer for 1, Chown for 2, each batsmen having a brief whimper about the wicket, a common theme for this game. Jepson and Logan entered the crease and built a key partnership, also producing a very village moment, a single was on (we thought) Jepson already 3/4 down the wicket turned around and dashed back and somehow didn’t get run out, he despatched the only six of innings before drinks, crucial runs in the chase!
Jepson was in fact run out after the break, Wells arrived, quickly departed after he was bowled by a ball that didn’t bounce. Chenery was next and stayed strong with Logan earning runs with the target in sight. Logan out, leaving Common and Chenery to steer us home and that they did with Chenery hitting shot of the day, his boundary despatched to cow corner. Common launched the winning runs and LCC are back in the win column.
Celebrations followed returning to the Victory inn, Beers, Scampi Fries and nuts that ended up on the floor!
Congrats to the lads on a fantastic performance with 10 players and Dan Common for his 5 wickets. We can officially confirm that Stuart Logan has not taken a 5 wicket haul this season!
