MATCH REPORT - THE REAL ODDIES - AWAY - 20/04/2025

21 Apr 2025

Good afternoon all

Yesterday we visited The Real Oddies in Colchester, to kick off the 2025 season.

I was not present at the game to report, so the match report this week is from the skipper, Tris Skinner

'We opened the bowling with Waugh, who struggled a bit with his line but did a good job for the side.

Jeppo came in at the other end as Ted wanted more time to warm up! Jeppo had his best performance in an LCC shirt and ended with 3 for 5 from 7 overs.

Ted replaced Callum and looked like he still need longer to warm up!! haha. He got a wicket in bizarre circumstances but also struggled early on.

Pilgrim, helping us out, bowled nicely for 5 overs, before being replaced by Dan Common who got a wicket.

Logan came on for Ted, with the Captain calling him his Trump card! So his new nickname is now Donald and he proved the point by bagging a hattrick!!

We then got 2 runouts through Nev, one a direct hit, to finish the Oddies for 101 all out.

Logan and Skinner opened the batting and the former fell in the first over, chopping on for 4.

Nev came in and again the pitch being hard to read, he spooned one up to mid on, for a duck.

In came Dan and had a nice little stand of around 30 runs (score book details to follow), before he was sent packing too.

In came Will Stacey and the pace of the Oddies attack was a bit too much for him and he fell for a duck too.

Chowny came in and defended the strong Oddies attack, to help out the skipper, whilst he was getting the score pushed along.

Chown was then bamboozled by a slower ball from their fastest bowler and headed back to the pavilion, clean bowled.

Barry Lock cam in and again was a good aide to the skipper, defending nicely, before being caught LBW to a quick one.

Jeppo came in at 8, with the Team needing 26 to win. Between the Captain and the Vice Captain, they saw us over the line with Skinner finishing on 53 not out and Jeppo 12 not out.

Brilliant win, against a very good bowling attack on a difficult strip. Excellent way to start the season off lads! '

This was a great start to season from the boys!
The team of the day kicked off the new Man of the Match award - sponsored by The Hare & Hounds in Leavenheath. The player will be awarded a pint from the landlord Will on our next visit.

The votes were 3 for Logan and Jeppo but the winner of the day was selected to be the Skipper, Tris Skinner.

This has been announced on Facebook and Instagram  - if you do not follow us, please do so and share the links

Next week kicks off the start of our home games, when Chappel come to visit on Sunday - details to follow during the week.

See you soon
