Good afternoon all
On Sunday we visited picturesque Dedham, looking to avenge our loss earlier in the season.
After a few of us had a lovely lunch at the Marlborough, we ventured over to the ground.
Down to 10 with 1 player dropping out, Superted kindly brought Robyn along who helped out.
Sun was shining, bit chilly but we were set and elected to field first.
Wellsy and Jepson were the opening partnership.
Both bowling very tight and Wellsy had the first break through in his 2nd over, clean bowled, stump out.
Jeppo's turn next and got wicket in his 3rd and fourth overs. One caught sublimely by myself at gully.
The other was also a catch by Cal.
Jeppo finished his 7 over spell with 4 maidens on the trot. Final spell finished, 7 overs 2 for 4, 4 maidens
Wellsy got another wicket in his 6th over, bowling their number 5 for a duck.
Finishing his spell - 7 overs, 2 for 14, 1 maiden.
Dedham were 20 for 4 after 17 overs - great start!
Cal and Superted were first changes. Both bowled well in their spells and getting lots of movement
but only Cal took a wicket with a catch from myself at Gully again!
Cal finished his spell 7 overs 1 for 24, 2 maidens
Superted finished his spell 7 overs 0 for 16.
Very good fielding and bowling had Dedham pinned back to 60 for 5 from 28 overs.
Will Stacey came on for 1 over but couldn't get a rhythm and went for 12 and Tris bowled the other end
Chown at the other end took our final wicket of the innings. Caught by Tris after a lifetime in the air.
Chown finished 3 overs, 1 for 26.
Tris throwing grenades down and even one about 10foot above batters head. 3 overs - 0 for 18.
Great bowling and fielding display. Bev kept very well! a lot of variable bounce out there and mopped it
all up.
Dedham finished on 116 for 6 from their 35 overs.
No teas, so quick break and we got underway.
Tris and I opened the batting - which I appreciated for about 10 seconds.
Tris got a quick single. I was all set, felt ok but struggling to move and that was evident when I swung
without moving my feet and inside edged. Out first ball.
Tris was joined by Bev. Tris was seeing it well and boundaries were flowing. He was then caught on
Boundary......which we thought was a 6.....for 37.
Nev joined the middle but Bev departed shortly after for 2 - an unlikely event after the season he has
been having.
Nev was joined by Will Stacey but also a fleeting visit, was bowled out for 1.
Jeppo then was in the middle to join Nev but was out after a couple of balls for a duck.
Pressure was on. After a lightning start, we were 46 for 5 from 10 overs.
Wellsy joined Nev and got off the mark quickly but was caught out for 6.
Chowny then came in to the game but Nev departed after getting caught LBW for 22.
We were at 78 for 7 now.
Cal was out there with his massive arms but couldn't connect for boundaries.
Chowny was out next being bowled for 10.
Superted and Cal were to try and steer us home but Ted got excited and was caught out for 5.
We got to 106 as Robyn came to bat and stayed at the end but Cal finished on 11 after being bowled.
We fell short and finished on 106.
After what we felt was a very good fielding display, turns out is only good if we bat well.
We back to Marlborough to drown our sorrows. First time in a while we have lost both games to Dedham.
We move on to this week and welcome Hadleigh to the Heath and look to get back to winning ways.
