MATCH REPORT vs DEDHAM AWAY - plus Fantasy update

16 Aug 2023

Good morning all

Attached is the Fantasy update following the match on Sunday vs Dedham away

Mist Rolling 23 still way out in front. He may not be caught now so 2nd and 3rd place is still up for grabs.

Below is the match report for the match.

We arrived to a hot sunny day in Dedham after our pre match lunch and beers.

Tris won the toss this week and as a chasing team, he elected for us to bowl first.

The outfield was long and the pitch had a variable bounce but Superted and Jack Cousins were asked

to open the bowling.

Superted and Jack bowled their maximum 7 overs each. Both got a wicket in their 2nd overs and both

finished with 2 wickets. Superted - both wickets were bowled and finished 2 for 14 from 7 overs with

2 maidens.

Jack bowled one and the other caught behind by Weavers. Finished with 2 for 16 from 7 overs with 2

maidens.

Jepson and Dan Common were the first changes and both bowled their spells.

Jeppo bowled out one in his 2nd over and another later in the spell caught by Jack. Finished his spell

2 for 26 from 7 overs no maidens.

Dan was keeping it tight at the other end and getting egged on by thge skipper to be top wicket taker

and overtake Jeppo. He finished with one wicket by bowling one of the batsmen out. Finished 1 for 12

with 2 maidens from his 7 overs.

Young Alfie Weavers and a returning Kieron Lock finished the innnings. The batsmen were stubborn

and unable to get them out so both finished without a wicket.

We had plenty of chances in the field - a count of 6 missed chances but overall the bowling was good.

Dedham finished 123 for 7 from their 35 overs.

Quick break as no teas and Tris mixed the order up for the batting.

Tris and I opened the batting - facing seam one end and spin the other.

Tris was unlucky to get out after getting one roll down his pads onto his stumps and departed for 9 from

his 15 balls. I was then joined by Jack for a brief stint who hit 2 4's from his 8 balls before being caught

out for 8.

I was steadily getting my eye in at the other end and was joined by Jonny Weavers.

I hit a a4 and then 3 6's during my innings. I hit their opener for a 6 and then attempted a defensive shot

and was bowled for 34 from my 26 balls.

Jeppo joined Weavers and between them they saw the innings through. A bit of controversy with them

appealing for Jeppo caught behind but I didn't hear wood and not out - they weren't happy but would

not have changed the outcome.

Weavers with a steady innings and hit another 6! Finished 41 not out from 45 balls

Jeppo with a few fours and finished 32 not out from his 50 balls.

We beat Dedham in 26th over and the win streak continues!

We were due to play Bures Saturday but they have withdrawn due to lack of players. Trying to get

a fixture but unlikely and another lost game is likely.

Match report for next week will be from someone else as I will be abroad on holiday - probably drunk too.

I will update Fantasy when I return.
