Good morning all
On Sunday we finally had our first home game of the season, after losing the beginning of the season
to weather.
We welcomed a late added fixture - The Real Oddies - to the Heath.
Please see attached the updated fantasy sheet - Mist Rolling 23 still way out in front!
Below is match report -
After getting the pavilion cleaned up, a couple of pre-match beers at the Hare, we were ready to go.
We fielded first in a 35 over match in the sunshine.
Wellsy and Superted opened the bowling. Wellsy keen to get bowling properly again after long term
back issues. The Wellsy of old was back - good spell from 7 overs with 1 maiden and unlucky not to
walk away with a wicket. The lycra and Yoga is working well! 7 overs for 25 runs
Superted had a brief 2 over spell before a leg injury forced him off the field. He got a wicket in first over
which was caught by Weavers
He was replaced by Jeppo who had a great start with a wicket in each of the first 2 overs and finished
with 7 overs 2 for 20.
Dan Common also had a 7 over spell and was bowling very well - 3 wickets - 1 in each of the first
3 overs. 7 overs 3 for 26.
The Chairman Mr Logan was then on. Another good spell of bowling and finished with 3 wickets.
6.4 overs 3 for 18
Skipper brought himself on to fill the missing overs and 1 maiden from 2 overs.
The fielding display was much improved this week - unless (in Skipper's eyes) your name is Dave!
I will not dwell on this, as I have lumps and bruises to show i stopped the ball. Only one mishap in calling
with Dan - but little things!
6 catches - 2 from Logey, 1 each from Weavers, Neville, Wellsy and Tris in slips.
Target was set - 101 to win
After eating too much at tea, we were out to bat, with Tris and Logan starting us off.
Logey had a brief innings and was bowled out for a 2nd ball duck.
Weavers joined Tris and they had a good partnership before Weavers departed for 36 after being caught
Bevan Gordon was back but also had a brief innings and departed for a duck.
I joined Tris at the crease. Tris looking hungover and beaten he was on 44 runs and needed 6 to win.
Turned down the run and told me to get the runs..........must of been feeling rough!
I did this the next ball and hit the 6 to win the game in 16 overs.
Another win for LCC and managed to get to the pub and have a few beers with the opposition.
Next week we visit Gestingthorpe on Sunday.
Have a good week.
Dave
