Good morning all
Please see attached the Fantasy league update for week 2.
Mist Rolling 23 are top of the table with a large double point scoring game.
Below is the match report -
On Sunday we visited Long Melford to play the 2nd match of the season.
After a couple of pre-match drinks, we arrived and the skippers agreed that we should be elected to bat
first.
Tris and Little opened the innings. Tris got off to a flying start. I got told off for playing a crap shot and
was told to stick around and play sensible. After a partnership of 97, Tris was bowled for 63.
Weavers came in and joined me at the crease. We both knocked it around for a bit and racked up the
runs. I was next to depart for 63 after being stumped - after batting for 28 overs - as per the skipper's
instructions I stuck around but no pleasing him, he wanted quicker scoring!
Weavers highest run scorer of the day with 81 runs - who was also stumped.
Rest of the batters came in with little time to score - Chown bowled for 8, Dan caught on 11 and
then Wellsy - not out with 2 and new Leavenheath member Neville playing his first match for us and first
game in 20 odd years got 16 not out.
286 for 4 off 40 overs
Superted and Jepson opened the bowling. Superted got a wicket in the first over - rather dubious LBW
but got us going. Superted finished his spell of 8 overs with 2 wickets for 15 runs
Jeppo, unlucky not to get a wicket with dropped catches and the openers saw the first 16 overs out
Neville and Will Stacey were on first change. Neville showing us what he can do and got a 2 wickets
for 35 runs and Will getting a wicket in the last over of his spell - 1 for 15.
Skipper then getting Wellsy on for a brief spell - no wickets, 1 maiden.
Chowny 4 overs, 2 maidens and 1 wicket - stumped by Weavers.
Skinner sling shot a few balls with the occasional grunt at the kids - 1 maiden from 3 overs.
Dan and I came on to see the last 4 overs out.
Dan 1 maiden from 2 overs.
I got a wicket in each over - 1st caught behind by Weavers and the other bowled but I was also
hit for a few runs - 15 for 2
They finished 145 for 8 and a comfortable first win of the season for LCC.
What this report doesn't show is how, on another day, we could have been let down with our fielding.
7 dropped catches - although after a few drinks to celebrate it was all forgotten - well until next game at
least!
Next week we entertain The Real Oddies at home on Sunday - added fixture for the blank week.
Have a good week
