LCC FANTASY - WEEK 18 UPDATE

16 Aug 2021

Good Morning all

The first update in 4 weeks due to abandoned and cancelled games.

Yesterday we visited Dedham for a sun filled day and brought home another win for LCC.

This was Chowny's first game and first win as match day Captain in the absence of Weavers.
Roles reverse as Chowny unavailable and Weavers returns for our Visit to Bures this
weekend.

The scores and table are attached. Cal and Chown still lead and the gap is increasing.
Everyones double points games have been played - or abandoned or cancelled.
All the points will be added at the end of the season before the annual dinner.

Bev is still leading the players scoring table but being chased down by the rest.

Summary of the game

A lovey warm sunny day and playing on a grass strip at Dedham for the first time in
years and LCC batted first with Logan and Tris.
After a quick fire start, Logan departed for 13 and Tris for 21.
Chown came in and stayed for a long time and got 35 runs.
Jepson with a quickfire 13 runs and then I came in and smashed about for 27 runs.
Minndo and Wells were the next 2. Minndo departed for 9 and Wellsy was highest
scorer of the day with 53 runs (would have had a clap, had Cal counted correctly)
smashing 5 sixes before being caught going for another.
Superted with 11 runs and Seb with 2 and Cal with 1 both not out

We set 201 off 40 overs.

We took to the field and Chowny chose Jeppo and Cal to open. 6 overs each for the first
spell.
Jeppo with a wicket in the first over from a 'dubious' LBW but another strong appeal got it
in the bag.
Cal, although bowling well didn't walk away with a wicket.
It was then for the 'SAS' to come on as first change. Stew and Logan. Logan took 3 wickets
and Wellsy taking one wicket later in the game.
Then came Little and Sperring for a short spell - although some would say it was far too long.
We allowed Dedham to get back into the game and put ourselves on the back foot.
Superted came on and rolled back the years with Wellsy, Jeppo and Logan finishing
the other end.
Superted bowled well and finished with 2 wickets before hurting himself and having to
come off in his last over after 2 balls.
Tris came on to finish the over. It was tight before he bowled but was a big ask from Dedham.
Tris was a tad expensive and went for 17 off 4 balls. This meant Logan had to bowl the final
over defending 6 runs.
Managed to let their big hitter get one off the first ball. They managed a couple more
but they finished short on 198.

A win by 2 runs!

Highlights from the day.
The roast dinner at the Marlborough - was a nice start to the day.
My 6 off my new bat!
Watching Wellsy go 6 smashing sixes for fun and then thinking he had a 50 - and he was right.
Catches from Minndo, Superted and Wellsy but the 2 taken from Tris after getting injured
from fielding earlier on were very good. The Salmon jump to grab a much needed
wicket was an enjoyable watch.

This week we visit Bures for the local Debry and looking to avenge our narrow
loss at home earlier in season.

Have a good week
