MATCH REPORT Vs THE REAL ODDIES - AWAY 06.08.23 - INCLUDES FANTASY UPDATE

08 Aug 2023

Good afternoon all

Please see below the match report vs The Real Oddies, which we played on the Garrison pitch in

Colchester on Sunday. In addition, the update on the Fantasy is enclosed.

Mist Rolling 23 is way out in front but still another month of games - weather permitting - so could still

be caught.......just!

This is the first full match in 3 weeks, due to a cancellation against Lindsell due to lack of players

available which was frustrating especially as it changed nearer the weekend.

Last weekend end, Leavenheath CC hosted the R Wade XI for the annual charity game for CALM.

Final figures are yet to be confirmed but another successful game which was well attended but looks

to have raised nearly £3000 - I am sure more detail will be shared in time once received.

R Wade XI won this year in the twenty 20 match.

Below is the match report for Sunday 6th August 2023.

We arrived at the ground to find The Real Oddies have been given keys to everything other than the

pavilion and the score board. Not the ideal start but shouting the scores each over kept us entertained.

Tris went out for the toss.......I am unsure who won but Leavenheath were going to have a bat first.

Tris and Logan opened the batting. Tris had a very brief visit to the crease and was caught behind

on 2 by Daley - who played for us earlier in the season!

Logan was joined by Jonny Weavers at the crease and there was quite a few boundaries going before

Logan 'upped one' and was caught for 25. Partnership of 66.

Bevan joined Weavers and was giving the strike where possible to Weavers as he was carrying an injury

and eventually departed for 12 after being caught by Daley. Partnership of 58.

The last partnership for the innings was Weavers with Dan Common. Very similar, Dan got Weavers

on strike most of the time until had his eye in and then scoring well.

Weavers batted well and held his bat at the end and scored his highest score for LCC 107 runs - great

knock.

Dan hit a 6 on the last ball to get across the 200 total.

Score was set for 202 to win from 30 overs.

After a walk down the road to the local pub for a lovely oriental tea, we went out to defend our score.

Superted and Jeppo opening and both bowling their full quota of 6 overs each.

The scoring by the opposition is incorrect but I have the following -

Jeppo got the opener out with a caught and bowled - after dropping one an over before.

Also bowled two others out and finished 6 overs 3 for 19.

Ted, bowling also supporting well from the other end, unlucky only to walk away with 1 wicket from his

6 vers and finished 1 for 11 with 3 maidens.

A great start from the openers and finished with 4 down.

Dan and Neville were on to bowl. Neville only last 1.2 overs before injury and I had to finish the bowling

Carrying on my recent form, I was pulled off after my 4 balls and seem to have forgotten how to play

cricket. 0.4 balls went for 20 runs.........in addition, I tripped over my own feet trying to get a catch off

Jeppo's bowling and ended up nowhere near it. Slightly hungover, injured and bloody useless all came

to mind.

We moved on and I was to be replaced by Dan at my end and Logan came on, after a break from

bowling due to injury, bowled 2 overs and got a wicket with a catch by Jeppo. Finished 7 for 1 off 2 overs

Dan had already got a wicket at the other end with a catch from Ted, was now bowling at the other end

Some runs given away but wickets were tumbling and were going to win the game early. Dan Finished

6 overs 4 for 29 - great spell to get us on track for another LCC win.

Alfie Weavers bowled the last over - I say over - it took the recently turned teenager, 2 balls

to get his first wicket and last wicket of the game. The catch was taken by Jeppo, This was his 4th of the

game with his caugh and bowled! After some expletives as he mis-judged it, he took a diving catch

and the game was won! We bowled them out for 107 in 20 overs.

Another LCC win!

Next week we visit Dedham away. We are light on numbers so if you have not said you are available

as yet, please let Tris know asap. Details to follow where to meet on the group chat.

Have a good week.

Thanks
Dave
